Folding realities: exhibition UNFOLD at Fotogalerie Wien

The saying "as the story unfolds" resonates deeply in both philosophy and photography, encapsulating the dynamic process of revelation and interpretation.

Philosophically, it evokes the gradual unveiling of truth or meaning, emphasizing the journey of understanding over fixed conclusions. Each moment of inquiry reveals new dimensions, much like a narrative that evolves with time. In photography, the phrase aligns with the art of capturing moments that tell a story, where each frame is a piece of a larger, unfolding tale as you wander through an exhibition. A photograph freezes a moment, yet invites viewers to imagine the before and after, suggesting a continuum of existence. Both disciplines share a reverence for the unfolding—the patient emergence of insight or beauty, which remains perpetually incomplete yet profoundly compelling.

Now if the story unfolds endlessly, it challenges our conventional notions of closure, meaning, and understanding - it might lead to an unending activity of UNFOLDING with no ending, so why bother? The UNFOLD exhibition challenges us to reflect on these topics.

Oh, and did I mention that the exhibition is free!?
